Guilherme Cantuaria, MD, PhD

As the Medical Director/PI of the NCCCP at
Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, Dr. Cantuaria is well-prepared and qualified to serve as Administrative for
PI for the Community Site. He is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the NCCCP, provides
leadership, develops partnerships, and ensures achievement of program deliverables. Dr. Cantuaria is a
board certified gynecologic oncologist with University Gynecologic Oncology (UGO). His background includes
training in Brazil where he received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Brasilia School of
Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology, along with his fellowship in gynecologic
oncology from the University of Miami. His experience includes six years as the principal investigator and
medical director for the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center in Charlotte,
North Carolina. Additionally, Dr. Cantuaria served as assistant and associate professor in the Obstetrics and
Gynecology Department for several major universities including University of Miami and University of Brasilia.
Currently he is an adjunct professor at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Cantuaria is a member of the
Scientific Advisory Board of the Integrated Cancer Research Center of Georgia Institute of Technology and the
Scientific Advisory Board of the Ovarian Cancer Institute. Dr. Cantuaria is a member of the Georgia COREGOG
Consortium and has been a leader in accruals to GOG protocols. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, International Gynecologic Cancer
Society, American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology, and
Brazilian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Cantuaria is well published in peer---reviewed journals and
currently serves as a PI at the Oncology Research Program at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network
(NCCN). Dr. Cantuaria brings experience in clinical and biospecimen research and working with national and
state collaborative research groups that will contribute to the success of NCORP with his leadership as the
Applicant/Administrative PI.
